From Sony's OLED display rollable

Sony(VGP-BPS9/B) has announced an OLED displays are ultra on the size of 4.1 inches and 1000:1 contrast.
This monitor has an amazing resolution of 432 × 240 pixels on an area of about 10.3 cm, the technology that will build this screen will be the OTFT (Organic Thin-film transistors), already used successfully in previous flexible screen: Sony(Sony VGP-BPS8A) had already submitted in May 2007 an OLED display with a thickness of just 0.3 mm and 16.8 million colors.

The selection of these organic materials is simple to explain: the new OLEDs are capable of providing very low thicknesses because they do not need other components to be illuminated (the LCD took their brightness by external light) since they produce their own light , and furthermore their consumption is lower and their working voltage is lower than other devices. Furthermore, their brilliance is superior to other technologies, giving the colors a new sense of vitality.
These advantages are opposed, however, two considerable disadvantages: being composed of organic materials, their decomposition is much faster, and their operation does not exceed 50 thousand hours of power, at least for now. Another disadvantage that affects more market is the high cost of production: prices of new OLED display, whether flexible or not, is necessarily higher for production needs and not just speculation on new technology. But Sony(Sony VGP-BPS9/B battery) is determined to eliminate these disadvantages, as evidenced by the investment of 140 million euros made in 2009.
Research results to date have created this display also rolled around a pencil radius of only 4 mm, without loss of quality guaranteed up to 1000 twisting. The monitor will be presented and tested at the SID (Society for Information Display) in Seattle which began on 24th of this month and will end today with his presentation of this screen.
