The N150 is underwhelming. Select Samsung's style keyboard is easy to type and your laptop battery life was impressive, and other netbook mini-notebook manufacturers have been caught with Samsung, and now offer models with batteries that can last for about the same time.
The 17in screen notebook VGP-BPS3A has a native resolution of 1600 × 900 and is almost perfect for lining up program windows side by side with Windows 7 Aero Snap feature of (some sites may require horizontal scrolling if lined up side by side with him way). The screen offers decent brightness and contrast, but has a glossy finish, which can cause reflections from overhead lights which can be annoying.
We found the hard drive a bit slow considering the fast processor; Recorded a transfer rate of 26,83 megabytes per second, which is identical to the sony VGP-BPS8, but slightly slower than the ASUS N61J. The hard disk has enough space (500GB), but is a model 5400rpm. We want a 7200rpm drive in a high-end notebook like this.
The emergence of Asus G60VX-RBBX05 is that should appeal to many gaming enthusiasts, but probably will not appease those who want a professional on-laptop. Cover has a dark blue glossy finish with an interesting project in the middle that looks like the logo of the laptop is an explosion outside the cap. You can also get a strong suspicion of a portable gaming from the label "Asus Eee PC 1000H Republic of the players' near the joint. The G60VX-RBBX05 is a bit clunky, weighing 7.3 kg and measuring 14.8 inches wide by 10.4 inches deep by 1.6 inches thick.
Speaker performance seemed missing, and although it offers a notebook subwoofer on board, does not produce much bass or midrange sound. The maximum volume level was fine for a small dorm room if you watch streaming video or listening to music. External speakers or Inspiron Mini 10 battery might be the best choice for this system gaming, and the notebook packed with outputs for most audio systems. For easy hookup to home theater, you can use analog line-out, coaxial digital out, or even for two HDMI digital video and audio.
As mentioned previously, the noise has been both an issue with the Dell Studio XPS 16. The slot-loading optical drive made some noise when inserting or eject a disc, but it was one of the quietest slot-loading drives we had in our office. The hard drive was also quiet and it seems like Dell (dell 6400 battery) has done a good job finding ways to minimize the noise from the hard disk. The fan was quiet, but considering how hot this laptop took the tests we would tolerate more noise fan if it meant a refrigerator hug.
Essay hit us up to just under $ 1500, with the introduction of a basic unit for $ 999. For business users, prices are reasonable due to the robustness and performance available. The only real downside is the lackluster IBM ThinkPad R60 Battery life, which is to be expected when using a performance-oriented of the CPU and GPU combination (both would be nice if Lenovo build an option for this machine enabled NVIDIA Optimus ). The screen was crisp, media playback was a chore and overall usability was stellar. ThinkPads tend to be "Love 'em or hate' em" type machines for some people, but the extra horsepower under the hood of this, we're guessing most folks will fall in "love" camp than ever.
